Crocheting for Me

I've been so busy getting inventory done and orders made that I haven't crocheted anything for myself in quite a while. In the last two weeks, I have corrected that. It's so nice to be wearing something I've made again. It gives me a warm, pleased feeling.

I do not have a picture of the shrug I made for a particular dress and I will try to get one and post it soon. I do have a picture of each of the skirts I've made myself.

 This brown one has open work in it. At the office i wore brown leggings underneath it and they were actually quite attractive that way. Outside the office I wore shorts under it. It could also be used as a bathing suit coverup. 100% acrylic. Not my design and the pattern can be found here.

This skirt I made to match the shirt. I ran out of the original green yarn but had one almost identical had the house. It does appear lighter in this photo. It isn't, however, that noticeable in person. Go figure. It has very few open stitches in it but I do have a half slip on under it at the office. The skirt, my design, was made to wear with the shirt. 100 % cotton.

I'm happy enough with the results that I modeled for my blog! I don't generally model.

My First Two Day Event

I'm showing at my first two day event this weekend. Packing up and leaving once we are off work this evening.

Thought I'd share a couple of the newest outfits I have.

First Craft Show/Market

I had my first real craft show this past weekend. It's at a downtown market in a nearby city, Tallahassee, FL.

The weather was not optimal by any means. We had a huge storm front approaching that didn't actually hit until after the vendors/artists had packed up. It was, however, overcast, windy and a bit chilly during the event.

Considering all that and it was the first one of the year, I was not displeased with how my sales went. I think I did just fine. I'll be back this Saturday and most of the next 39 it is open.

I'd like to make some changes to my booth presentation but that will be gradual as I can get and find better display options. But, here's a few phone pictures of this past weekend.

Just Some Thoughts

Some random thoughts....

My youngest son's GF is starting to crochet. She wanted to learn something and I was right in the middle of Christmas things so I gave her circular knitting looms. She really took to those. A method of taking things off the loom is with a crochet hook. I gave her one of those as well a little later. She has found some instructions on crocheting online and is doing that now I have heard. Doing a good job my son says. I'll try to get up with her this weekend and check out how she is going.

I made me a shawl out of some yarn this same son had found me at a thrift shop. I love how the colors pop together. It's acrylic and not the softest but a good washing will help that out a little. I didn't have enough for a full blanket so that's why I chose a shawl. I made it bigger than normal and while it was laying in my chair (we have a dual recliner loveseat that Walt and I always sit in) I noticed it was just wide enough to over my side of it. It's new and I had been using a towel to protect it at times. The shawl is now a half afghan that stays in my seat all the time.

Now, I'm making one for Walt. It always amazes me how slow I can be crocheting if I am not into the project. I don't really care for the pattern he chose nor the colors. However, I believe I am through with the squares finally. I will put a border around this and it will be done. It's half the size of the pattern for the afghan and though the pattern doesn't have a border, I do not like how it looks without one. I will be adding that tonight hopefully. It was a slow pattern for me for me to work up. It didn't really flow I suppose. And this is the second thing I've made that I've really noticed the color choice had an effect on how well the project went for me.

I've thought about this off and on for the last 6 months or so. I'd like to find a group that meets to knit and crochet together. I would like to make new friends and learn new things. And just have a social aspect to my life again. I haven't found one in the little I've searched but, today, I have started making greater efforts to do so.
